SLS AGR-4/4 converter

The SLS AGR-4/4 converter is a multiplexer for managing the NMEA 0183 format data. That is a standard used in the maritime navigation systems, meteorological data collection systems, data acquisition devices, etc. The device is capable of the filtration and retransmission of the selected NMEA data items to the selected output ports. The SLS AGR-4/4 converter uses the standard short-circuit protected RS-422 ports to carry the NMEA 0183 data streams of up to the four input devices and four receivers. Each serial port can be set at one of the predefined data speeds – the device provides the data buffering when necessary.

The firmware with the embedded web server provides the flexible data management: combining several streams into the one, data filtering and conversion of the transmission parameters. Therefore, it is possible to connect the different NMEA devices with each other, regardless of their own hardware limitations (the port speed settings etc.).

Also the SLS AGR-4/4 device is able to convert the signal from NMEA 0183 to NMEA over Ethernet.

The USB type B port can be used to monitor the data transmission with the personal computer.

The configuration of the device and the data management are accessible via the built-in web server.

The features of the device

  • 4 NMEA 0183 (RS-422) inputs
  • 4 NMEA 0183 (RS-422) outputs
  • The power supply circuits for input and output ports for the galvanic separation of power supply
  • All the ports have the protection circuits (the ESD suppressor/TVS diodes) against the electrostatic discharges
  • The operating status LEDs for:
  • the primary power status
  • the secondary power status
  • the malfunction of the device
  • the USB transmission
  • the data reception
  • the data transmission
